Chantre's musical journey began with his mother's eclectic music collection, featuring artists like Prince, Mariah Carey, and Suzanne Vega. Over the years, exposure to radio and TV broadened his influences to include rap, R&B, and 90s house music. His inspirations span from Prince and Kate Bush to Aphex Twin, alongside a deep appreciation for visual artists such as Philip Guston and Brâncuși. He particularly admires Mark Mothersbaugh of DEVO for his film and animation scores.
Starting songwriting at 16, often performing with his sister on bass and violin, Chantre's musical interests flourished early on. From exploring classical music to discovering global sounds at Fnac, his journey led through Brazilian, Japanese, African music, and diverse soundtrack compositions. Joining the band Fenster in 2013 marked a pivotal moment, sparking a decade-long career of recording and touring. A defining solo performance in 2017 solidified his path as an independent artist.
Since then, Chantre has performed over 100 shows across Europe and America, sharing stages with artists like Chris Cohen and Alex G. His debut album remains popular, featured in notable TV series such as Hulu’s High Fidelity and HBO’s High Maintenance. 'Open' heralds a new musical chapter, characterized by heartfelt lyrics and a captivating melody, showcasing Chantre's artistic evolution and unwavering dedication to his craft.
